The Mathematics and Science department have collaborated over the last two weeks of the summer term to create STEM week for our year 8 and 9 pupils with the theme of speed, distance and time. Our pupils hypothesized about how their distance/time and speed/time graphs would look if they were to run a 50m dash. Once they had plotted their prediction graphs, we took to the field where our pupils conducted their experiments and recorded their data.

After some very competitive 50m dashes, our pupils returned to the classroom and plotted their results. They were able to compare their results and predictions as well as answer IGCSE questions on reading SDT graphs. All our pupils presented their findings on A2 poster paper and you’ll be able to see their fantastic work on the displays in the Mathematics and Science department.
