The Year 7 field trip complemented the current Geography topic that they are studying. The topic focuses on coastal ecosystems, processes and land use. During the day the pupils completed an in depth study of the Kite Beach area. This included the natural processes and economic activities taking place in the area, and the way in which land use and activities are being managed. The experience enabled pupils to apply their learning from the classroom to a real life local context. It also provided opportunities for pupils to learn about, and conduct, essential field-studies skills such as; field sketching, sketching maps, devising and conducting questionnaires and completing conflict matrices, amongst other methods.
